Riverland Community College was unable to recover from an early deficit, falling 12-1 to Northland Community & Technical College.
Northland set the tone early, scoring four runs in the opening inning and adding two more in the third to build a 6-0 advantage. The visitors continued to apply pressure throughout the game, finishing with 15 hits and scoring in five different innings.
Riverland broke through in the sixth inning when freshman 1B Carson Gehrke (Oregon, Wi) delivered an RBI double to account for the Blue Devils' lone run of the contest.
Offensively, Gehrke led the way with a 2-for-3 performance and the team's only RBI.
Northland was led by a strong offensive performance at the top of the lineup, finishing with 10 RBIs on 15 hits.
