Riverland Community College delivered a dominant performance on both sides of the ball in a 13-0 victory over Northland Community & Technical College.
The Blue Devils set the tone immediately, exploding for 10 runs in the first inning behind timely hitting and disciplined at-bats. Riverland continued to apply pressure with an additional run in the second and two more in the fourth to extend the lead.
Riverland totaled 13 hits in the contest, with multiple players producing offensively. Sophomore 3B Raul Martinez (Santa Isabel, PR) and sophomre pitcher Peyton Ransom (Austin, MN) each recorded three hits, with Martinez driving in two runs and Ransom scoring three times. Freshman 2B Austin Swenson (Adams, MN) led all players with five RBIs, highlighted by a bases-clearing triple in the opening inning.
Sophomore outfielder Jonathan Mora (Miami, FL) added two hits and two RBIs, while freshman outfielder Hideki Ohira and freshman shortstop Christiaan Koehler (Red Wing, MN) each contributed an RBI in the win.
On the mound, Ransom turned in a strong complete-game performance, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just five hits.
Riverland was solid defensively throughout, playing error-free baseball and turning key double plays to support the shutout effort.
