Riverland Picks Up Win Over Central Lakes

Riverland Community College used a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching to claim a 10-2 victory over Central Lakes College-Brainerd on March 27 at home.

The Blue Devils got on the board in the third inning and opened a big lead with four runs in the fourth, followed by three in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Riverland totaled six hits, with key contributions from sophomore 3B Peyton Ransom (Austin, MN), who drove in three runs, and Freshman catcher Ethan Mott (Rockford, IL), who launched a three-run homer. Sophomore 2B Raul Martinez (Santa Isabel, PR), sophomore outfielder Jonathan Mora (Miami, FL), and freshman outfiedler Hideki Ohira each added an RBI to the win.

On the mound, sophomore pitcher Riley Jax (Adams, MN) delivered a complete game, allowing only two runs on five hits while striking out five. Defensively, Riverland played error-free baseball behind Jax's dominant outing.

Central Lakes College-Brainerd managed five hits and scored twice late in the game but could not overcome Riverland's offensive onslaught.
