Riverland Picks Up 76-71 Conference Win Over Minnesota State

Riverland Community College picked up a crucial 76-71 home victory on Wednesday night over Minnesota State.

Minnesota State came out efficient offensively, shooting over 50% from the field and knocking down 10 threes, which helped the visitors take a narrow 33–32 lead into halftime.

Riverland responded after the break with increased physicality on the glass and pressure defense. The home team finished with a commanding 48–30 rebounding edge, including 20 offensive boards that created crucial second-chance opportunities. That effort helped Riverland outscore Minnesota State 44–38 in the second half to secure the five-point victory.

Sophomore guard Tyson Helms (Tucson, AZ) was a stat-sheet stuffer pouring in a game-high 27 points, dished out 7 assists, snatched 5 rebounds & collected 5 steals. Sophomore forward Tristan Coleman (Maywood, IL) double-double 17 points & 11 rebounds (8 Offensive). Sophomore forward Joe Poyser (Wildwood, FL) double-double 11 points & 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Isaiah Lindor (Miami, FL) 12 points. Freshman guard De'Vaun Suggs-Dabney (St. Paul, MN) 6 points & 6 rebounds.

Despite shooting just 41.3% from the field, Riverland's rebounding advantage, aggressive defense (nine steals, four blocks), and efficiency at the foul line helped overcome Minnesota State's hot perimeter shooting.

#2 Devils improve to 23-1 (8-0 MCAC South) on the season with the win.
