Riverland Men's Soccer dominated on both sides of the pitch Friday afternoon, rolling to a 4–0 victory over Trinity Bible College at home in Austin.
The Blue Devils controlled possession early and capitalized quickly. In the 13th minute, Owen Spaeth (Rochester, MN) broke the deadlock with the opening goal, assisted by Josh Jones (Wirral, England) . Just three minutes later, Flynn Perry (Farnham, England)
doubled the lead with an unassisted strike, giving Riverland a commanding 2–0 advantage heading into halftime.
Riverland's momentum carried into the second half. Nick Asmus (Austin, MN) delivered a brace with goals in the 52nd and 54th minutes. His first came off a feed from Nelson Powell (Frankston, Australia), while his second was set up once again by Jones, who tallied two assists on the day.
On the defensive end, Riverland was nearly flawless. The Blue Devils back line limited Trinity Bible to just five total shots, only two of which were on target. Goalkeeper Ethan Brown (Ramsey, England) was steady in net, turning away both attempts to secure the clean sheet.
Statistically, Riverland fired an impressive 38 shots (15 on goal) compared to Trinity's five, and earned a 4–2 edge in corner kicks. Trinity Bible's goalkeeper made 11 saves to keep the match from becoming more lopsided.
The win lifts Riverland's record to 1–1-1 on the season, while Trinity Bible drops to 0–4.
