Blue Devils Earn Hard-Fought Draw at Alexandria Tech

The Riverland Community College men's soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw on the road Sunday afternoon against Alexandria Technical & Community College.

The Blue Devils struck first just seven minutes into the match when Owen Spaeth (Rochester, MN) buried an unassisted goal to give Riverland the early 1-0 edge. Alexandria responded before halftime, equalizing in the 35th minute on a penalty kick. The Legends pulled ahead shortly before the break as Rafael Onalaja made it 2-1 at the 44-minute mark.

Riverland kept pushing in the second half, and the breakthrough came in the 77th minute. Nitor Egbarin (Lagos Nigeria) finished off a feed from Josh Jones (Wirral, England), leveling the score at 2-2.

Goalkeeper Ethan Brown (Ramsey, England) was strong between the posts for Riverland, making 5 saves on 7 shots.

The match was physical, with both sides combining for eight yellow cards.

With the draw, Riverland showed resilience in coming from behind and earning a point on the road against a tough divisional opponent. The Blue Devils (5-2-1) overall (2-0-1 1st Place) MCAC are back in action Thursday at Dakota County.
