Riverland Community College came out strong on Wednesday afternoon but couldn't hold off a surging Anoka-Ramsey squad, falling 4–1 on the road in conference play.
The Blue Devils grabbed an early lead in the 19th minute when Abdullahi Atanda Aderogba (Lagos, Nigeria) found the back of the net off a well-placed assist from Joel Thawng (Austin, MN). The goal gave Riverland early momentum and marked Aderogba's continued offensive consistency this season.
Anoka-Ramsey answered back just eight minutes later to even the score at 1–1 heading into halftime. The hosts carried that momentum into the second half, striking three more times in the 56th, 77th, and 89th minutes to secure the win.
Riverland finished the day with seven total shots and six on goal. Aderogba led the attack with four shots and two on target, while Thawng, Nelson Powell (Frankston, Australia), Nitor Egbarin (Lagos, Nigeria), Kgosi Modise (Ga-rankuwa, South Africa), and Flynn Perry (Farnham, England) each recorded one shot on goal.
Goalkeeper Ethan Brown (Ramsey, England) made three saves while playing the full 90 minutes in net for the Blue Devils.
With the result, Riverland moves to (6-6-1) overall and (2–2-1) MCAC. The Blue Devils will look to bounce back on Sunday at home in their final conference match of the regualr season against Alexandria Tech.
