Riverland Picks Up Crucial 3-1 Win Over Alexandria Tech

Riverland Community College Men's Soccer picked up an important conference victory on Sunday afternoon, defeating Alexandria Technical & Community College 3–1 at home.

The Blue Devils got off to a fast start, scoring three times in the opening 30 minutes. Freshman Josh Jones (Wirral, England) opened the scoring in the 11th minute off a setup from Nick Asmus (Austin, MN). Just nine minutes later, Owen Spaeth (Rochester, MN) doubled the lead, finishing a pass from Jones to make it 2–0.

Alexandria Tech cut the deficit to one in the 22nd minute on a goal from Amadu Bayoh, but Abdullahi Atanda Aderogba (Lagos, Nigeria) responded quickly for Riverland, finding the back of the net in the 28th minute with Spaeth providing the assist.

The Blue Devils controlled possession for much of the match and limited the Legends' attack, holding them to just three shots on goal. Goalkeeper Ricardo Guedez (Guanare-Portuguesa, Venezuela) earned the win with two saves.

Riverland improves to (7–6–1) overall and (3–2–1 - 2nd Place) MCAC with the victory. The Blue Devils will return to action Wednesday against Luther JV.
