Riverland Community College Women's Basketball fell to Minnesota North College–Itasca on Friday night, 72–31.
Itasca came out strong, scoring 16 first-quarter points and building early momentum from beyond the arc. Riverland worked to settle in defensively, but the Vikings continued to find rhythm, knocking down 11 total threes and outscoring the Blue Devils in every period.
Offensively, Riverland was unable to consistently convert despite generating opportunities, finishing the night shooting 22.6% from the field and 0-for-12 from three.
Sydney Shelby (Homer, AK) provided a bright spot off the bench, leading Riverland with 14 points, going 5-of-12 from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Kyana Hutchinson (Seward, AK) and Morgan Klankowski (Austin, MN) added five points each, while Najima Hassan (Mankato, MN) contributed four points and a team-high two assists.
Rebounding remained competitive, with Itasca holding a slight 40–31 advantage, but turnovers played a major role as Riverland committed 25 giveaways leading to transition offense for the Vikings.
Riverland will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they host Northland at 1pm.
