Minnesota State Community and Technical College used a strong second half to pull away from Riverland Community College, earning a 56–19 victory Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls. The game marked Riverland's first game since the holiday break as well as their first southern-division game.
The Spartans gained an advantage out of the gate 23–10 at halftime. A strong second half rebounding help extend the lead over Riverland.
Freshman guard Lexi Lewis (Austin, MN) led Riverland with six points and four steals. Sophomore guard Alexis Jones (Albert Lea, MN) added four points off the bench. Freshman guard Najima Hassan (Mankato, MN) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
Riverland will look to regroup as they continue conference play Wednesday night agaisnt Minnesota West.
