Riverland Women's Volleyball battled through momentum swings and a resilient Anoka-Ramsey squad to pull out a dramatic five-set victory (25-22, 20-25, 17-25, 26-24, 15-13) on Saturday afternoon at home.
The Blue Devils came out strong in the opening set behind a .385 hitting percentage, but the Golden Rams responded by taking the next two frames. Facing elimination in set four, Riverland rallied late to claim a 26-24 win and force a decisive fifth set. The Blue Devils carried that momentum into the finale, closing out the match 15-13.
Sophomore outside hitter Brienna Brewer (Rapid City, SD) led the way with a match-high 15 kills while adding 13 digs and 2 service aces for a 17-point performance. Middle hitter Brenna Grade (Wausau, WI) provided efficient offense with 11 kills on .304 hitting, while Kyana Hutchinson (Seward, AK) contributed 10 kills and an ace. Setter Macey Johnson (Chandler, AZ) directed the attack with 37 assists, chipping in 10 digs and 2 aces.
At the service line, Brea Belting (Owatonna, MN) delivered a spark with 4 aces to go along with 5 kills, while libero Isis Walters (Faribault, MN) anchored the defense with a team-best 17 digs.
As a team, Riverland totaled 48 kills, 65 digs, and 10 service aces, showing balance across all phases.
With the victory, the Blue Devils improve their season record to (6-3) overall & (3-1 2nd Place) MCAC South.
