Riverland Falls To Minnesota West 3-0 On The Road

Riverland Community College Women's Volleyball fell in straight sets to Minnesota West on Wednesday night on the road (11–25, 8–25, 26–28).The Blue Devils battled throughout but were unable to find offensive consistency, finishing with 24 kills and a team hitting percentage of -.043.

Riverland opened the match with eight kills in the first set but couldn't overcome errors down the stretch. The team's best offensive frame came in the third set, where they posted 12 kills on 63 attempts.

Freshman outside hitter Brienna Brewer (Rapid City, SD) led the Blue Devils with 9 kills, 8 digs, and a block assist. Claudia Hensley (Denver, CO) was perfect on the attack, recording 4 kills on 4 swings for a 1.000 hitting percentage. Kyana Hutchinson (Seward, AK) added 4 kills and 6 digs, while Keeli Johnson (Houston, AK) contributed 2 kills and an ace.

Setters Kiah Parkin (Crookston, MN) and Macey Johnson (Chandler, AZ) combined for 19 assists, with Johnson leading the way at 12. Ellasyn Carrier (Houston, MN) anchored the back row with 13 digs, helping Riverland total 46 digs as a team.

Despite strong defensive play, Riverland couldn't overcome its 29 attack errors, while Minnesota West maintained steady play on both sides of the net to secure the sweep.

Riverland looks to bounce back Friday on the road at Anoka Ramsey.
