Riverland Wins Five Set Thriller Against Rainy River to Improve to 2-2

Riverland Women's Volleyball outlasted Minnesota North College–Rainy River in a five-set thriller (25-19, 25-18, 23-25, 21-25, 15-12) to go 2-2 on their opening weekend at Anoka Ramsey MCAC Crossover.

The Blue Devils came out strong, hitting .278 in the second set to build a 2–0 lead before Rainy River clawed back to even the match at two sets apiece. Riverland steadied itself in the decisive fifth, posting a .222 hitting percentage to close out the win.

Freshman Brienna Brewer led the charge with 14 kills, six service aces, and two solo blocks, finishing with a match-high 22 points. Brenna Grade added 13 kills on .296 efficiency with six total blocks (five solo), while setter Macey Johnson dished out 42 assists to go with six kills and four aces. Defensively, Ellasyn Carrier anchored the back row with 21 digs.

Rainy River was paced by April Hernandez, who turned in an impressive 14 kills on .542 hitting. Janne Ramakers chipped in six kills and three block assists, while Ninette Romero led the defense with 20 digs.

As a team, Riverland collected 52 kills, 47 assists, and 83 digs while also recording 17 aces and eight solo blocks. Rainy River tallied 33 kills and 70 digs but could not overcome Riverland's balanced attack and strong serving.
